Faith-based Minneapolis protest singer goes electric

What makes Mason Jennings one of the best acoustic-based singer-songwriters you’ve never heard of is his ragged, intimate voice and simple ruminations on God, war, hope and gratitude.  On his best album yet, Jennings goes much darker, with chilling tales of addiction, madness and loss, all wrapped up in fuzzy electric guitars, feedback and raw, distorted vocals.  “Pittsburgh” is a straightforward, Lou Reed-ish story-song about a teenage breakdown, and “The Field”, with its priaml scream on the line “I don’t want no victory, I just want you back,” may be the most moving anti-war song ever written from a parent’s perspective.

Mason and the Beach Rescue Concert

Mason is excited to announce his participation in the Beach Rescue Concert presented by Barefoot Wine.  On August 29th, Mason will be heading to Asbury Park, New Jersey to help Barefoot Wine celebrate the Surfrider Foundation’s 25th anniversary with a beach cleanup in the morning and perform at a FREE celebratory concert with Joss Stone, Gavin DeGraw and the Cold War Kids later that night!  Everyone 21+ is invited to join. Our friends at Reverb have teamed up with Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation to help the Beach Rescue Music Concert go green! This concert is the culmination of a series of 25 beach clean ups across the country, and is in celebration of 25 years of Surfrider’s sustainable style.

Reverb will have an on-site Eco-Village at this concert, and we’re looking for a few good volunteers to help us! Volunteers will be encouraging fans to offset their carbon footprint, as well as helping us run our composting and recycling stations.  (21+ only, please bring a valid ID)
