The wait is over. After putting in much love, sweat, and soul into it’s creation, Mason Jennings’ new album Minnesota was officially released today!
Mason Jennings will perform a private, afterhours in-store at the Minneapolis Electric Fetus on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 7:00 p.m., two days before his new album, Minnesota, is released. In order to gain admittance to the in-store you must be one of the first 300 people to pre-buy either the CD or the LP at the Minneapolis store. We will begin pre-selling Minnesota on Monday, Aug. 22 at 9:00 a.m. The first 300 to pre-buy the album will receive a pass that will be required (with receipt of purchase) to get into the in-store and to turn in for their pre-bought copy when the album is released on Tuesday, Sept. 13. One pass will be issued for each copy purchased; each pass will admit only one person. There will be a limit of four passes per customer to purchase. This promotion is only available at our Minneapolis location; online pre-sales will not receive a pass to the in-store. The evening of the in-store (Sept. 11) we will close as usual at 6:00 p.m. and reopen for the in-store at 7:00 p.m. admitting all those with passes.
Yep. That was Mason’s first dream job. Paste Magazine recently highlighted 50 Musicians and Their Childhood Dream Jobs, including Mason, and here’s why he wanted that job:
I thought it’d be the sweetest thing imaginable to be a football or baseball statistician. To be at all the games. To make sense and order out of the beautiful games. I used to read the stats religiously. At night I would organize the football divisions in my head to relax. Then one day at school they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up and I said: “statistician.” It got quieter and more pointy in the room than dead dust and I heard the sound of my coolness drowning in a familiar little teeny nerd pond. My dream was crushed. And from the muck another dream grew.
Age when he wanted to be that profession: Eight years old.

With his new album Minnesota on the horizon, Mason Jennings has decided to release a series of music videos for several of his new songs. The first video premiere, hosted by Paste Magazine, is “Bitter Heart,” directed by Andre Durand.
Stay tuned for more video premieres coming soon!
We’re excited to announce that ‘Minnesota’ is now available for pre-order! Every order comes with an instant mp3 download. We’ve also put together some great merch packages to go along with the pre-order. Check it all out here!
